Darryl LoyDarryl Loy currently serves as Director of Technology for Good Shepherd Episcopal School in Dallas Texas. Building upon an extensive corporate accounting and technology experience, Darryl moved into Education 2003 to serve as Associate Head of School for Operations at Fort Worth Academy. At FWA, he was responsible for the launch of FWA’s One-to-One laptop program in 2007. Additionally, his work helped shape and support The Academy’s signature Entrepreneur, Leadership & Innovation (ELI) program. Mary TorresMary Torres is the Educational Technologist at Good Shepherd Episcopal School of Dallas, a 1-1 iPad school. Mary has been an educator for 16 years and have worked in a variety of departments as a classroom teacher, HR Training Specialist, Lower School Technology Instructor and Educational Technologist. She draws her inspiration from students and watching their excitement from problem solving, critical thinking, ownership of their learning and the fun they have from the integration of technology and maker education! Mary believes that students of all ages learn best by doing and creating! Technology integration and MakerEd truly supports and enhances learning in schools and we should encourage it in EVERY classroom! She is excited to be a part of education that is pushing forward, breaking boundaries and inspiring our students. |
Becky Barrett is currently in her second year as the Lower School Technology Instructor at Good Shepherd Episcopal School. She currently teaches students in the computer lab and integrates technology through collaborative planning with teachers. When crafting lessons, Becky often looks for ways to have students collaborating, creating, communicating, and applying critical thinking skills. Prior to transitioning to Good Shepherd, Becky taught 5th grade in a 1:1 iPad classroom.
Becky is always looking to improve her knowledge of best practices in instruction and technology. She recently received her Masters in Educational Leadership at SMU and is a Google Certified Trainer, Flipgrid and Seesaw Ambassador, and yogi! Find her on Twitter @BeckyEDU! |
Laura Cole is currently the Director of the SPARQ Innovation Program at the Good Shepherd Episcopal School with students PK-8th grade. She designs curriculum, teaches lessons, and collaborates with teachers using high tech and low tech tools to help students think more deeply about what they are learning. Laura has presented at the Lausanne Institute, TCEA, SAES conferences on “the Making of a Maker Space,” and on the ATLIS Webinar “Inside Maker Spaces.,” and hosted a SXSWEdu MeetUp on Maker Education. Her students have presented their own work at the Dallas Start-Up Week and the Dallas Aurora Festival of Light. Through collaborations with Stanford d.school K12 Lab, SMU Maker Education Project, Design for Change US and others, Laura aims to build community partnerships through SPARQ to deepen student engagement and thinking. Laura’s dream is to see Dallas become the Epicenter for Innovation in Education.
